A Holiday Poem
The weekend is a holiday
A time to lay down work and play
A time to frolic in the sun.
As birdies chirp and beezies hum
I wonder if we’ll finally choose
What all the family wants to do
We’ve made a list and checked it twice
Which took the list from ten to two
At first, we’ll try to play a game
Roll the dice, discuss the rules,
Debate the point, Argue the toss,
Perhaps we’ll look for something new
Maybe we should watch a film
We oft get on when we don’t talk
Just find a film to match all tastes
We should be done by half past four
One by one we each suggest
The task we think will win the day
And, with each choice, we start to see
We each relax in our own way
So back to back we do our things
Each to their own as silence falls
And gradually we start to smile
It’s fun together after all
The weekend is a holiday
A time to lay down work and play
A time to frolic in the sun.
As birdies chirp and beezies hum
